Here’s what’s foundational about understanding trauma through a brain-based model: It isn’t personal! All brains under the same conditions adapt in similar ways. It’s not about strength, moral failing, or your worth as a person. It’s simply about the way our brains are designed to respond to stress.

About Beth
I am a licensed professional counselor and trauma therapist who has worked with adults, children, adolescents, and families for over 25 years. As a survivor of the TTI and complex trauma myself, I have devoted my career to treating the complexity of traumatic stress and supporting survivors of traumatizing systems.
My journey taught me something fundamental: I was not broken, but adaptive. This shift from pathology to understanding—recognizing that my brain had adapted to help me survive—transformed not only my own healing but how I approach therapy with others.
I believe counseling should be a collaborative and empowering process where you are the expert on what you need, and I am here to assist you in accessing that expertise. Effective and lasting recovery from abuse, attachment issues, adoption-related challenges, and complex PTSD requires equally nuanced treatment. I integrate a wide range of therapeutic approaches in my practice, from traditional talk therapy to body-based interventions, animal-assisted therapies, and neuroscience-informed methods, always guided by what resonates most with YOU in your healing process.
